Calibre book, ca. 1753-1757.

Memoranda book kept by Gawen Brown, a Boston watchmaker from London, from 1753-57, containing drawings and works of clocks, dimensions of parts, sketches of hands, etc. The vol. also contains the subjects of twenty-six sermons preached by Rev. George Whitefield in Boston, 1754; scattered poetry fragments; and a note on Milton's Paradise Lost. London clockmakers Thomas Reynolds and John Mintern are also mentioned in notes.
